Using RACO Heavy Duty Electric Actuators in Press Applications

Untitled design (7)

Electric Actuators are a smart choice for use in pressing applications where high concentrated force is needed. A robustly constructed, precision controlled actuator, with an extremely repeatable stroke, will run continuously for years and make thousands of good parts. Press applications include Glass and Powder Metal Thermal Forming, Metal Forming, Forgings, and the assembling of components. Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and even Destructive Testing Systems are ideally suited for Electric Linear Actuators, as well.

RACO Linear Actuators are an All-Electric, self contained drive System that is highly robust and built to last. They are mainly ball screw driven with attainable thrust forces of up to 270,000 Pounds of Force (1200 kN) and with strokes up to 78.75 inches (2000 mm). Our High Performance, RACOmatic Control line yields near servo, closed loop control for exact positioning and repeatability. This modular assembly sizing and fabrication gives the customer enhanced versatility in programming and flexibility.

Unmatched Performance in Harsh Environments

With many Press Applications existing in very high temperature environments, due to its inherent Thermal Forming process, an all electric actuator is the best choice. Hydraulic actuators and their associated components take up a lot of physical space, are prone to leaks and temperature related failures, and have high initial costs.

RACO actuators are built to withstand harsh conditions, including high cycle shock loading of press applications, extreme temperatures, and dirty or corrosive environments. The RACO unit is a sealed, self-contained actuator and requires minimal maintenance. Additionally, the actuator’s power is consumed on demand, thus making the overall system highly efficient.

Innovative Design and Engineering

The engineering team at RACO has developed these actuators with cutting-edge technology and innovative design principles. The result is a product that not only meets but sets new standards in the industry. From precision engineering to the use of high-quality materials in grinding our own ball screws, every aspect of the actuator’s design is optimized for performance and durability.

This robust construction ensures longevity, reducing the need for frequent maintenance, breakdowns, and replacements.

Exceptional Performance and Reliability

RACO actuators are equipped with advanced motor technology and high-efficiency gears, ensuring consistent performance over long periods. This makes them a trusted choice for critical applications where failure is not an option. From high-temperature seals, to proper rod covers, to incorporating Overload capabilities in real time, the electric actuator is the better solution.

In any Press Application, smooth and steady motion at high speeds yields the best parts and the RACO linear actuator does deliver this kind of performance, repeatedly, over thousands of strokes.

Advanced Control Features

RACOmatic Controlled electric actuators used in Press Applications come equipped with advanced control features that enhance their functionality. These include options for remote monitoring, automated diagnostics, and integration with existing control systems. This allows for seamless operation, easy management, and turnkey installations. Position and feedback sensors provide the closed loop accuracies needed to repeatedly stroke and make consistent press movements, at various speeds and forces.

The intuitive control interfaces and user-friendly software make it simple for operators to configure and adjust settings as needed. This level of control ensures optimal performance and helps in quickly addressing any issues that may arise. Multiple actuators can also be controlled at the same time.
